lyrics

I listen to the whisper of the Salish Sea
As the sun rises over Mount Baker
Ravens call like the ghosts of these pines
Warning, I shall be called to the Maker
From the stones below by the shoreline
And the clouds burnt gold by the morning
To the river otter, bobbing in the water
The earth pulls us all as she’s turning

On a street I know well in a city I love
A bicycle frame lies broken
A plate grows cold on a wooden table
And a daughter’s name goes unspoken
From the glint of rain on a hunk of steel
And the midnight street lamps burning
To the Samaritan, bar-towel in his hand
The earth pulls us all as she’s turning

Some say the moon or the tides
Others swear it’s Heaven
But all we have is the briefest flash
And the pull of the earth upon us

I cannot stay forever on the Salish Sea
The wind through these pines another warning
I bid the ravens adieu, pocket a stone or two
I feel the earth pulling me as she’s turning

I bid the ravens adieu, pocket a stone or two
I feel the earth pull us all as she’s turning
